REGISTERED NURSE (RN) / BACK OFFICE SUPERVISOR
SUMMARY
Responsible for managing and coordinating the clinical services function:
Assists the Clinic Manager in the administrations of Clinic operations
Provides leadership and support to all staff in clinical services to ensure effective delivery of human services to patients in accordance with Clinic mission and policies
Supervises clerical and administrative support staff and volunteers to ensure timely and efficient daily operations including processing and maintenance of patients' medical and related records; insurance filing and follow up on payments; reception and related functions
Ensures administrative operations comply with Clinic policies, contracts and regulations
DUTIES
- Monitoring and changing staff time schedules to ensure the appropriate availability of staff needed to allow the delivery of effective and efficient patient care. Coordinate staff when a mis-match exists.
- Ensures appropriate level of support provided to clinician or physician during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Assists Clinic Manager in recruiting and hiring of appropriate staff
- Assigns workloads, develops priorities, and establishes work schedules necessary to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Performs yearly appraisals and develops performance objectives, which results in the growth and development of direct reports
- Attends and actively participates in all team and staff meetings.
- Performs a wide variety of clerical duties including: filing, photocopying, faxing, sorting/distributing mail; preparing outgoing mail; answering the telephone and directing calls as needed; scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars.
- Monitors and changes staff time schedules to ensure the appropriate availability of staff needed to allow the delivery of effective and efficient patient care
- Monitors specialty and volunteer schedules; works to maintain up-to-date staffing calendar.
- Ensures appropriate clinic staffing levels. Anticipate changes in staffing needs and coordinates staff when shortages exist.
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current California State RN License
- Minimum two years previous RN experience; 1 year dispensing experience
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Current CPR certification
- Annual physical
- Two professional references from current/former supervisors
- Citizen of the United States or proof of the right to work in the U.S.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Previous experience in community clinic preferred

NURSE PRACTITIONER (PER DIEM)
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Medical Director or other staff physicians, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services as a member of a health care team comprised of other Clinic providers and support staff.
Primary responsibilities relate to management of health care for certain patients and families as assigned.
DUTIES
Performance of health assessments, including a thorough history and physical examination, ordering or performing certain diagnostic tests, evaluation of the psychosocial and family aspects of the situation sufficient to make a general health assessment, and diagnose the nature of common acute and chronic conditions.
Promotion and maintenance of family health, including planning of periodic health assessments and screening for early case findings, assessment and guidance with regard to health hazards, child rearing, good family health habits, family planning, mental and emotional problems and continued maintenance of contact and rapport with the family.
Management of common acute and chronic illness, including minor trauma, episodic problems, common chronic disorders, as well as counseling and education with regard to such problems, performance of minor surgical procedures and initiation of life-saving procedures in emergencies.
Referral of complex and high priority cases to the physician on duty with regard to complicated diagnostic problems, serious illness, complicated therapeutic problems, reevaluation of chronic conditions, etc.
Working as a member of the health care team, and assisting in education of patients and the target community in preventive health care and health maintenance concepts.
Demonstration of patterns of continued learning in order to ensure growth as a practitioner.
Participates in team meetings and provides input on general operational issues to improve the quality of health care delivery including the Clinic's Best Practices team to create and monitor protocols/guidelines for patient care and uniformity of forms.
Attends and participates in in-service training.
SECONDARY DUTIES
May assist Medical Director in supervision of other clinical staff.
Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current California license to practice above-mentioned duties.
2. Ability to relate well with patients and other health care personnel.
3. Cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically diverse patient- and employee-base.
4. Willingness to educate patients and the community in health maintenance and the role of the health care team.
5. Ability to work as a team member.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Graduation from a certified Nurse Practitioner or related program, which entails training as well as practice in the above, mentioned duties.

STAFF PHYSICIAN
SUMMARY
Provides primary medical services to the patients of UMMA.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides excellent customer service at all times, to internal and external customers.
- Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history.
- Examines patient to determine general physical condition.
- Oder and accurately interpret necessary laboratory tests, pathology results, radiologist reports in the development and execution of a treatment plan for patients.
- Documents gathered information in medical record as required by policies and analyses reports and findings of tests and examinations.
- Prescribes treatments and medication.
- Immunize patients from communicable diseases.
- Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.
- May provide prenatal care to pregnant women and may provide postnatal care to mother and infant if applicable.
- Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
- May perform minor surgery/procedures.
- Ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the physician/patient relationship.
- Active participation in the Quality management Program, Peer Review, UMMA Provider activities, and UMMA’s On-call schedule.
- Provide preventative health care services in accordance with HEDIS and other national evidence based standards.
- Able to finalize patient charting in a timely yet complete fashion to support billing levels.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience and training as a physician.
- Physician with an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California.
- Leadership and/or management skills preferred.
- Education and training necessary to obtain a medical degree. Requires valid license to practice medicine in the State of California. Board Certified or Board Eligible in specialty preferred.
- Education, training and experience necessary to meet the underwritten requirements for inclusion under UMMA’s malpractice insurance coverage.
